“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” — Benjamin Franklin.
“As a physician and lung specialist who regularly breaks the news of a new lung cancer diagnosis and witnesses the havoc the disease does to the individual and their loved ones, I see a tremendous value in taking measures to reduce the risk of developing this disease. Locally, Saskatchewan and Manitoba are regions within the country that have radon levels that are comparable to some of the highest levels around the world; making testing an important cancer prevention tool.
I witness the devastation lung cancer diagnosis can do to a person's psyche and the hardship endured during treatment. While for some, the only option is palliation. Radon testing and mitigation can reduce the risk of developing lung cancer and I would recommend it!
It is easy to see how wearing a seatbelt when driving a car and a helmet when riding a motorcycle are life-saving measures. Radon is a colourless, odourless, and tasteless gas that leads to increased risk for developing lung cancer when exposed to over time. Testing and mitigating the radon level in your home can protect you and your family from a potentially deadly disease.”
